COMPANY HISTORY

In the Beginning:
MIS started in conjunction with the divestiture of the Bell/AT&T System in 1984. The divestiture contributed to one of the largest technological advances in history. MIS saw the need for advanced business telephone systems and concentrated on this market throughout the remainder of the 1980's.

In the early 1990's with bandwidth requirements exploding, MIS evolved and developed the cabling infrastructure business in parallel with the evolution of the industry. From the earliest days of the business, MIS recognized the tremendous business potential with the standardization of cabling media, network topologies, and the establishment of nationally recognized standards for telephone and LAN connectivity. MIS installed its first Lucent fiber backbone in 1990 and has been providing high-level telecommunications infrastructure services ever since.

And Today:
Today, we continue providing leading edge business voice systems including voice over I.P. Technology, voice and data cable network systems including all fiber and horizontal Category 5 - 6 systems. We have added national project installation, management, and design for companies with multiple facilities, as well as audio/video systems for hotels, restaurants, boardrooms and network control centers.

MIS has grown very rapidly, and consistently, from a few employees in 1984 to a staff of over 100. Growth of the business has averaged 31% per year over the 18 years of operation, and MIS has established itself as the largest, locally owned, communications infrastructure companies in Western Pa.

Honors, Activities & Certifications:
MIS has been honored by the business community for its ongoing successes including recognition from:

  • Pittsburgh Business Times
  • TEQ the magazine of the Pittsburgh Technology Council
